We found this car late last year in an airplane hangar in MO. I was doing my regular internet searches when I found this one pop up on craigslist. I had to do a double take, “wait what?” A RHD Euro ’67 here in the states?? To find a Euro ’67 in the states is rare to begin with, I have come across a couple of them in my 15 years of doing business, but not many. I have found more ovals than Euro ’67s, so this is a rare find, especially being RHD.

Euro ’67s are unique, you had 3 options in Europe, a 1200 standard , a 1300 model, and a 1500 model. Most buyers went with the 1300 model. Lower CCs meant less tax. The 1200 model was a standard, so no bling. The 1500 is the more sought out version. The 1500cc kept the early headlights like the others, still stayed 6v, but had disc brakes in the front, and 4 lug wheels like the ’68 and later models had here in the US. She also had the 1500cc label on the rear decklid. A different breed altogether even up against the USA bound ’67 that many people love.

When I bought this bug and put a vid up on Youtube about it, many folks inquired on it, and a long time buyer of mine came around and signed onto it. We did some upgrades for him, like installing a brand new interior with seats, door cards, headliner, and carpet.

We did an engine removal and detail, new running boards, new pop-out windows, new window seals and trim, tires, new brakes, shocks, installed 3 point seat belts, and a complete mechanical overhaul.

After a few months of owning the bug, this client became unable to drive the bug from an injury. So the bug came back to our shop to go up “For Sale.” I added a few more touches to the bug, installed some portawall white walls, painted the wheels red, new hub caps, new fender beads, parcel shelf, horn clock, 019 Distributor etc. We gave it a lil bit more of our look that we like.

This is a sold car that is perfect for a collector. We did not paint this bug, she was painted about 15-20 years ago in lotus white, it is not perfect, but she still stands out at a show. We actually won a trophy for her at a car show that had about 1500 show cars there, pretty cool! PLEASE VIEW THE PHOTO SLIDESHOW GALLERY HERE to see what we worked on with this bug.
