Our New "Find-A-BuG" program! Itchin to get a bug NOW? Don't Wanna Break the Bank? This might be the option for you!

We get inquiries everyday on our “Build-A-BuG” program, the program where we build/restore a car just for you from the ground up. I discuss the details of that program HERE.

But some people fall into a different bracket, some that cannot afford a “Build-A-BuG” or just cannot wait to have a lil buggy in their hands. “Build-A-BuGs” do take time to restore, you might be waiting a 1.5 to 2 years to get your car back depending on the condition of your car.

So “Finding a BuG” for you might be the option. These are bugs that are pretty much already restored to some degree, starting in the 10k+ range.

We search, chase, find, ask the tough questions, inspect, buy, and send your bug off to you. You give us the criteria you are looking for in a Bug, color, year, sunroof, sedan, vert, whatever! We find it for you, we know what to look for, where to look, and what kind of ??s to ask the sellers. We make sure your car is 100% legit, no hack jobs!

It comes to our shop for a full inspection, whatever mechanical repairs it needs or changes you want such as interior, trim, accessories, motor, detail, etc., we can do it for you.

Basically we can change/upgrade anything but the color of the car in this program. Once we throw paint into the mix, now we are venturing into “Build-A-BuG” restoration where the car needs to be completely stripped down.

There is a CONTRACT and small deposit required for “Find-A-BuG.” If you are interested in having us “Find-A-BuG” for you, give us a call 845.290.9900.

Found this car on craigslist, price looked right, pics looked pretty good, and it was only about an hour from me in Westport CT.

I love doing the hunt online and finding a real gem in the rough. Many bugs you see today (about 90% of them) are usually hacked up, numbers don’t match, heavily tampered with, parts are missing etc. So when you do find one, it is something you can’t pass up if the price is right.

I hate to say it, but I was actually just looking when I drove out to take a peek at this car. Well, she won me over. It was so complete! Rust Free and dry too! 1967s are a tough year when it comes to parts, but this one has them all, all original and intact. So many of the parts are going right back on the car when assembly begins. I thought about just selling the car the way it is, so I put it on the market about a month or so and we really had no bites.

In today’s day, many people do not want a car that needs work done. If they do, they want to pay DIRT for it. I know the true potential behind this car, so I am diving right in.

Take a peek at the resto pics below.

Hi Chris,

I just came across your website this morning and having spent just a short time going over it I have found it very informative and to say the least inspirational. As the owner of a 72 bug that I picked up a couple of years ago and since then been sitting in my garage waiting on me to bring her back to life, the timing of your website is the motivation I have been needing.
Thank you for the dedication to these little gem’s that you have shown and I look forward to the day I can drive to one of your gathering’s with her.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the videos that you have posted. I recently have gotten into the vw bug hobby.

Hello Chris

Just wanted to say thanks for all the videos that you have posted. I recently have gotten into the vw bug hobby. I’ve been doing research on them, watched all your videos and checked out your website. I just bought a 66 beetle. I haven’t picked it up yet. The car is from Florida, and is being delivered to me in Pennsylvania. So I’m very excited to get it. It is a clean, stock example. But just wanted to say that it’s nice when someone takes the time to teach others what they know. I’ve hit a lot of the websites that you have mentioned, and learned some cool things about bugs through your videos. I’ve even bought the ethanol treatment that you have suggested for the fuel. But just wanted to give a shout out and say thanks.

Took delivery of the bug this past Sunday. It had to be towed because it won't run or idle very well at all.

Hi Chris,

Took delivery of the bug this past Sunday. It had to be towed because it won’t run or idle very well at all. My boys and I started from the bottom and went up. Verified location of TDC on cylinder #1 with the “pencil in the spark plug hole” trick, Valve adjustment, cleaned and adjusted plugs, 2 spark plug wires were switched around , adjusted points, checked carb settings. It fired right up!!! Runs like a top!

A month ago, I knew nothing about these engines except how to change the oil!

Thank you again for sharing your passion and enthusiasm with your videos and responses to emails! I truly appreciate it! If you’re ever in Phoenix, let me know. I’ll buy you lunch!

Just wanted to provide a little feedback.

Hi Chris,

Just wanted to shoot you an email because I have really become a big fan of your YouTube channel. I’ve been watching it since I was 13 and have still been enjoying all the restores you do. I am 16 now and am really am looking into getting a bug. Not a perfect car I’m looking for one that needs work. I want to be able to drive it and say I’ve done things myself to it. Anyways I’m only sixteen and don’t know a great deal about cars just how to repack bearings and a full oil change. I was wonder if it would be smart to buy a low price beetle to work on my self and if it would be hard to restore a bug. I thought asking you would be smart you seem to know just a bit about vw bugs. Thank you for taking the time and reading my email. Keep making great videos really enjoy them.

Thanks again,
Brendt

My good friend and mentor Vince Vespe happens to be one of the most legendary people around when it comes to his history, his knowledge, friendship, and of course his VW enthusiasm. Vince frequents our shop often, he stops by during the week, comes to our gatherings, we travel to shows, it is always a good time.

Vince happens to own a 1965 Karmann Ghia, and he is the original owner of this baby, he bought it NEW in 1965. Whatever show he attends, he walks away with an award, the car is that special. Recently, the NY Times did a story on him for all to read, it is a must!

That’s right guys, we will be having our 3rd Air-Cooled “DuBs & Coffee” gathering on Sunday June 9th (weather permitting) at 10am-1pm at our shop 22 Burts Rd. Congers NY 10920. This is our third show/open house gathering of the season and it will continue thereafter on the first Sunday of every month through to the fall season.

Some come out, show off your air-cooled ride, any Bug, Ghia, Type 2, Fastback, Porsche, Thing, whatever Air-Cooled. Come chat, mingle, and network with the vintage air-cooled scene. Food will be on hand, free to all, no admission, no trophies, just come and have fun. See the shop and the latest projects we are working on. More info, call 845.290.9900

** NOTE ** I know we usually have our DuBs & Coffee on the 1st Sunday of the month, but on June 2nd, our 1953 Ragtop Beetle that we just finished restoring will be on display with its new owner at this years Greenwich Concours D’ Elegance. The car was accepted to that show, so naturally we are going to attend. But don’t fret, the next gathering will be on June 9th!
